Personalized learning is instruction tailored to each student based on the student’s strengths, needs, and interests. Our teachers support students to have choice when it comes to time, place, pace and path.

Istation

From intervention to enrichment, Istation gives students the instruction they need when they need it. Istation gives each student purposeful instruction by identifying needs that adjusts to each student's abilities.

i-Ready

i-Ready personalized lessons means greater learning gains for all students. i-Ready Personalized Instruction supports all students. That includes those at greatest risk of getting left behind as well as those working above grade level. Students who receive Personalized Instruction for an average of 45 minutes or more in math per week for at least 18 weeks showed significantly more growth than students who did not.

ELA Intervention

Every month our students take a short assessment on Istation. We use those results to form small groups for every student based on an area of need or enrichment. Students are then placed in groups to work with a teacher in a personalized learning environment.

Novel Studies

This class is offered 5 days a week for 30 minutes in a 5 week rotation. Students choose from a selection of novels and are placed in that class. Teachers cover ELA standards while introducing our students to great literature to help them discover a love for reading.

Bengal Innovators

This class is offered 3 days a week for 45 minutes for three weeks at a time. Students choose what creative, hands on, real-world experience they want to attend. A few of the classes we have offered are coding, JB designs (school store), makerspace, baking and measurements, sew and stitch, adopt a cow, and cultural connections.

Energy Hour

Students have 60 minutes to decide when they eat, go to recess, or work in the library. If students have 2 or more missing assignments they get sent to tutoring to work with a certified teacher. If a student has a D or an F they also are given the opportunity to make corrections to better their grade. A lot of our students choose to go into the library to complete projects or to have their reading log signed. By giving the students the opportunity to choose how they spend their time our discipline logs have decreased. Our students enjoy this time of day.

Mentor Monday

Every Monday the students work with a peer and discuss their goals, progress, and work together on organizing their belongings. Students also work with their teacher on what goals they have for the week, look at their progress on their Math and ELA interventions from the past week, and set academic and personal goals.

Finish Friday

Students are given the time to get caught up on work, redo assignments, meet with teachers if they have been absent or need extra support, or work on STEAM enrichment challenges. This allows students time to focus on their own academic needs.
