Project-based learning, internships and civic engagement make learning relevant. Project-based learning is a student-centered instruction that helps students acquire a deeper knowledge through exploration of real-world challenges and problems.

Bengal Innovators

This class is offered three days a week for 45 minutes for three weeks at a time. Students choose what creative, hands on, real-world experience they want to attend. A few of the classes we have offered are coding, JB designs (school store), makerspace, baking and measurements, sew and stitch, adopt a cow, and cultural connections.

Energy Hour

Students have 60 minutes to decide when they eat, go to recess, or work in the library. If students have 2 or more missing assignments they get sent to tutoring to work with a certified teacher. If a student has a D or an F they also are given the opportunity to make corrections to better their grade. A lot of our students choose to go into the library to complete projects or to have their reading log signed. By giving the students the opportunity to choose how they spend their time our discipline logs have decreased. Our students enjoy this time of day.

Novel Studies

This class is offered 5 days a week for 30 minutes in a 5 week rotation. Students choose from a selection of novels and are placed in that class. Teachers cover ELA standards while introducing our students to great literature to help them discover a love for reading.
